  • Volunteered from May 2018 until May 2023 at the hospital
  • During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic were the vaccine was starting to be administrated. I worked on assisting in the coordination of Covid-19 Vaccination appointments.
  • My work mostly consisted of providing patients company and necessary materials to be well settled. I went to each of the patient’s rooms on various floors like oncology, and I talked to them to provide a little bit of company and conversation or check if they needed anything that I could help with, like bring them food they could eat.
  • I also helped the program raise funds and provide administrative assistance at the service desk.

Volunteer Researcher Mace's Lab at Columbia University NY

  • Volunteered with Dr. Emily Mace and Everardo Hegewisch MSc., MA (mentors) on topics regarding the development of Natural Killer (NK) cells in a project focused on understanding specially analyzing flow cytometry data. As part of my job, I had to attended weekly meetings, work on my writing skills, report my findings, help on research projects, and make presentations.

Translator at Translators Without Boarders

  • I help translate documents since 2020 from Spanish to English and English to Spanish for non-profit organizations around the world. This is done by the online Kató translation platform, which helps make the connection with humanitarian and developing organizations (critical health, crisis response, and human rights information) that need translating. This has helped me use my ability to be bilingual to help many organizations globally.

Shadowing at Online Shadowing PR

  • I attended on Fridays weekly meetings to shadow physicians. Each week a guest speaker came, doctor or other professionals in the medical field such as pharmacist, with different specialties compared to the previous ones. The physicians talked about their journey to become who they are professionally, some talked about some of the cases that they have worked and showed pictures. At the end of the meeting the attendees had the opportunity to take a quiz and get certified.

Member of the Latino Medical Association

  • As a member of the LSMA since July 2023, I participate in activities related to the program's aim which is to empower medical students through service, mentorship and education to advocate for the health of the Hispanic & Latinx community.
  • One of the activities that I attended that was really inspiring was when I participated in a mobile health clinic in a shopping mall and we attended any person that wanted voluntarily to have their vitals taken by medical students such as myself and then have their thyroid checked by endocrinologist.

Member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness

  • I was a member of the NAMI organization during my bachelor's degree from 2018 until 2022, when I graduated. This organization is focused on raising awareness in the college community about mental disorders and the importance of mental health. I have helped the association’s fundraising efforts through their merchandise sales, as well as participating in lectures on topics such as LGBTQIA+ disparity awareness and art therapy sessions.

  • Member of the APPR organization during my bachelor's degree since 2017 until 2022. This organization focused on orientating undergraduate students that are interested in a career in medicine as physicians. I attended their meetings, their volunteer work, fundraising and even. participated in an activity to help mentor a student to apply to medical school.
