Summary

Mechanical Engineering candidate (May 2025) specializing in simulation and fluid‑dynamics analysis with ANSYS Fluent and SolidWorks Simulation. During my Bacardi internship, I led a filling‑station redesign that significantly reduced product loss and optimized labor utilization through real‑time data capture. Fluent in Spanish and intermediate in English, I’m ready to apply my engineering expertise to enhance production efficiency at Coca‑Cola.

Work History

Bacardi Summer Program

Leila Rosario Estremera
Cataño
06.2024 - 08.2024

•Standardized Bacardi’s aging-area filling stations—cutting waste, and product loss while boosting consistency.

•Performed detailed time-study labor analyses to optimize workforce allocation on barrel filling and emptying lines.

•Applied DMAIC principles and implemented flow sensors with real-time data capture to automate processes, enhance quality control, and drive cross-functional efficiency.

Academic Experience - Course Projects

  • MATLAB: designed a program capable of reading tables, creating graphs of the user's choice with the column the user selected, and giving the user the minimum, maximum, and average data from the table
  • Machine Elements 2: Designed a mechanism that could lift 400 lb to the roof of buildings, 'Towing mechanism.' Required extensive calculations, such as power screw, shaft, bearing, springs, and fatigue. Modeled the towing mechanism in SolidWorks and simulations in ANSYS (Discovery)
  • Thermodynamics 1: designed a new line for processing canned tomatoes to produce 3,000 cans per hour, working 10 hours per day, a week, with a steam sterilization process
  • Thermodynamics 2: Designed a Stirling engine made from recycled materials, focusing on efficiency and low environmental impact
  • Fluid Mechanics: constructed a water pumping system for a new community, applying the Reynolds number and the Bernoulli equation for design and calculations
  • Automatic Control System: established equations for a PID system, designed a controller, and verified results using MATLAB
  • Heat transfer: designed a heat exchanger in SolidWorks and presented an analysis for the inlet and outlet temperatures using LMTD and NTU methods
