Mr. Ortega is a young and talented professional with more than 2 years working with disaster and emergency related events. Posses a master degree from Nova Southeastern University in Emergency Management and Disasters (2024), which was obtained with high honors. Mr. Ortega constantly is seeking opportunities to grow as a professional, love to assist, learn and teach. Some of the professional experiences related to disasters and EM include employer's as WSP Services, Housing Department of Puerto Rico, private organizations and FEMA. In most of the positions held, Mr. Ortega has carry out responsibilities for individual and public assistance programs.
• Worked shifts of eight (8) hours, five (5) days a week for five (5) weeks.
• Generate detailed and effectively inspections, documentation and reports to the property of the affected client, which will be represented in court by the contractor.
• Completed sketches of sites to supplement. photographs and all information obtained at SOW.
• Wrote detailed damage descriptions and obtained the applicant representative’s agreement that all disaster-related damage was described and quantified correctly.
• Work on a daily basis with Publisher to review and complete inspection reports made by other inspectors on the filed.
• Provided administrative and technical support for project superintendents and project managers.
• Filled out and submitted reports and paperwork on-time.
• Review and complete more than 10 damage reports per day.
• Worked shifts of ten (10) to fourteen (14) hours six (6) days a week for twenty two (22) weeks.
• Supported finance department staff by performing a wide range of clerical and administrative tasks related to federal funding grants provided to the recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria (2017), in the pilot program "Tu Hogar Renace".
• Audited 7 conglomerated contractors (5 from US and 2 from PR) that were designated to use more than 1.2 billion dollars of federal funding to construct and repair damage dwellings (DD) by make them "safe and functional".
• Assessed the accuracy of recorded payments.
•Processed financial documents including contracts, expense reports and invoices.
• Worked shifts of ten (10) to fourteen (14) hours seven (7) days a week for eleven (11) weeks.
• Deployed as a Site Inspector on DR-4339-PR, coordinated with other PA staff involved in the IA Program delivery process for applicant and performed accurate quantification and detailed description of disaster related damage, including debris.
• Two hundred ninety-nine inspections completed, 88.75% Avg QC score and zero (0) FEMA complaints.
• Arrive at disaster field office at appointed date and time and receive briefing and equipment as necessary.
• Schedule inspections with the FEMA disaster survivor on a first-in, first-out basis.
• Perform inspection according to FEMA specifications and FEMA Inspections Guidelines.
• Explain FEMA provided documents and answer basic questions from applicants about the FEMA process.
• Verify ID, Insurance status, Ownership (only for owners), Occupancy, and Household Composition.
• Enter each room (whether there was damage or not) and record damages to the walls, floors ceilings, doors etc., appliances, and furnishings.
• Assess damage to the roof from the ground; assess damage in the crawlspace from the exterior.
• Assess appliance damages before recording them as Repair or Replace Measure rooms in which damage occurred and total square footage of dwelling.
• Take interior and exterior photos of the dwelling and damages reflective of the habitability determination.
• Address all data fields required within the FEMA software
• Complete and return to WSP USA all assigned inspections in less than 5 (five) days of the disaster survivor's registration.
• Submit accurate timesheets and travel reimbursement forms on a weekly basis.
• Respond professionally to WSP USA staff inquiries within 12 hours.
