Construction Drafting Educator
Vocational High School - Miguel A. Such
Rio Piedras
03.1997 - 05.1997
For about a (3) month period I had the privilege to teach the fundamentals of drafting & technical drawing to 10th grade through 12th grade students.
My principal priority was to teach each student on how to develop drafting skills by developing written drafting technics on a drafting table to acquire the fundamental basics of creating "freehand" drawing using dimensioning scale, pencils, mechanical pens, compasses, protractors, triangles, and other drafting devices to prepare a sketched drawing.
In addition to the fundamental "freehand" drawings, isometric and/or 2D/3D drawings were included.
This prepared each student on how to visualize two- and three-sided figures, all in dimensional proportions, but none were shown as a true shape with 90-degree corners.
All the vertical lines would be drawn vertically but all horizontal lines are drawn at 30 degrees to the base line.
Isometric is an easy method of drawing 2D/3D images.
Further on these drawings will provide visual guidelines and descriptions to each student on how to construct a figure, product, plan, and elevation.
On each drawing they should emphasize using their standardized building techniques to draw and elaborate a detailed plan or figure layout.
Further on these drawings would translate an idea, sketch, or specification into accurate computer-assisted drafting drawing (CAD / AUTOCAD).
