APHIS PPQ AID
● Engage in conversation with the travelers to find out whether any tainted agricultural items are in their luggage and to provide pertinent details about any applicable regulations.
● Safeguards U.S. agriculture and natural resources against the entry, establishment, and spread of economically and environmentally significant pests, and facilitates the safe trade of agricultural products.
● Apply federal laws, policies, and regulations related to the job.
● Recognize the agricultural element in primary X-ray scanning and quickly refer to secondary inspection.
● Assemble the information required for each confiscated agricultural product from the passenger. (Where is the product brought from and where was it intended to be taken to)
● Educate and orientate passengers on the dangers and risks of exporting prohibited agricultural products to the mainland.
● Safely transport quarantine material intercepts to the contraband inspection area.
● Cut and inspect the daily fruit and vegetable contraband to identify any plague or pest the agriculture product may have.
● Identify plagues and pests such as mealybugs, fruit worms, and fly larvae such as the fruit fly, among others that could affect agriculture.
● Help refill safety products (trash bags, gloves, and alcohol) in each working station.
● Performed Agriculture Quarantine Inspection Monitoring (AQIM) random survey of passengers in order to accordingly maintain risk analysis and risk management
African Swine Fever (ASF)
● Prevent the passage of prohibited swine products avoiding the spread of African Swine Fever to the US mainland by removing the product from the passenger’s luggage during inspection.
● Assist the African Swine Fever Technicians in the data entry task by uploading daily recovered African Swine Fever data in the agency shared OneDrive.
● Assist in entering the recovered data to the Agricultural Resource
Management Survey (ARMS) Program to ensure the information available is updated for economic and agricultural issues purpose.
