Accomplishments

  • Managed for over 4 years the VA Central Office (VACO) Mental Enhancement Initiative for VACHS. This initiative provided over $4 million per fiscal year in specific salary funds. Led efforts to guarantee all BHS programs adhered to budgetary regulations, ensuring all funding goals were met.
  • Improvement of access through health program evaluation and lean six sigma, reducing up to 87% the inefficiencies related to transition of care in the Mental Intensive Case Management Program.
  • Established healthy productivity targets based on RVUs for all mental health programs. This helped the clinic directors understand thresholds for potential staff burnout and demonstrated the quality of health care. While general productivity guidelines exist for mental health providers as defined by VHA Directive 1161, specific targets are needed at the program level.
