It is the highest distinction that a Girl Scout in level Junior, which is composed of fifth and sixth graders, can receive. My project consisted of collecting food, cleaning utensils, and detergents in order to donate them to an animal sanctuary named Santuario Lázaros.
It is the highest distinction that a Girl Scout in level Cadette, which is composed of seventh and eighth graders, can receive. This time I worked with a different animal shelter: Humane Society of Puerto Rico. I helped remodel a completely abandoned room intended to be a quarantine room for cats. We collected an extensive amount of money and recruited various companies to help out with the project. The ceilings, walls, and floor were fixed and the room was repainted. Food was also donated to the shelter.
It is the highest distinction that any Girl Scout can achieve during her trajectory in the movement. My Gold Medal project was to create a scholarship program in my dance academy in which, through sponsors, scholarships were awarded to young children and teenagers who did not have the resources to pay for a dance academy. Three students had the opportunity to receive these scholarships which covered any classes they desired to take including theater, jazz, hip hop, ballet, singing, and others.
